lever arm shocks 3 Attachment(s)
I have a 1939 Ford 1/2 ton truck and these are the style of lever shock that is on it. I have been researching lever arm shocks on the internet and can not find any this style. Is this what should be on my truck? Or has someone changed to these? Thanks Karl

Re: lever arm shocks Looks like a delco unit to me so not original fitted.
If it fits the mounting holes and work it probably gets the job done ;) |
Re: lever arm shocks Hi there, these are DELCO-LOVEJOY shocks. There are numerous types of these mostly fitted to GM cars and some trucks of the period. Also fitted to some Packard, Studebaker, Chrysler, Auburn, Duesenberg and others. They were also fitted to many Fords when the Houdaille shocks packed up. Cast mounting brackets were supplied in kits to retrofit to Fords. Were generally easier to rebuild than the houdaille shocks. Just google Delco-Lovejoy Shocks for heaps of information and history. Regards, Kevin.

Re: lever arm shocks my advice is to upgrade to new shocks. they sell shock mount kits but they are real easy to fabricate if you have the ability or know someone that does. the old lever type are ok but not even close to functional like the newer shocks. jmho.

Re: lever arm shocks I have the LoveJoy shocks on the front of my 32 tudor. They work really well. Mine were from an MGB gt, and were used on the rear of the MG.

Re: lever arm shocks If you want to stay with original shocks I have a set of front shocks off my '39 p/u from when I converted to tube shocks. I'm not far from you (Redlands). PM if your interested.
