Tony, do you mean the assist springs? I have a 48 and have never seen any other spring. Is this a LB top? Thanks, Rick

Re: 47 ford convertible

I am stumped, I just installed their top on my 48 which is the same as your 47 and no springs came with the top. I think someone put them in your package by mistake because no springs other then assist ones go to that top. They may be for 49 which I believe has cables along side instead of snaps.

Re: 47 ford convertible

There are booster springs for a 48 (and I assume 46 & 47) converts. There is a picture in the 41 - 48 service bulletins, page 317. It does not show where the bottom is mounted. I installed then in my 48.

Since the picture showed what I thought to be be straight up and down with the top up, I assumed there was a bracket down below. Any bracket that should have been was missing, so I made one. I don't know if the stretch is right, but it's been working ok for the last 30 years.

I know one 46 conv. restorer that leaves those springs out, says they are not needed.
