1937 a/c help
 

I'm trading my 56 ranch wagon for a 37 sedan with no a/c. What's the best set up to get and install? Down side of the sedan it has a 355 in it.

I haven't installed all of the offerings out there, but I installed a Vintage Air compact unit in my '40 coupe when I built it back in the early '90s. I bought the complete package from them in ensure compatibility. I had it charged with the amount of freon they specified and 20 years later it still put out 39 degree air at the vent. Never any freon added or repairs required.

I also have a Vintage Air system in a 33 Chrysler Imperial street rod. Its been in use for 5+ years with no problems and will keep the cab of the coupe cool even with all the engine and exhaust heat. Should you decide to use their product I would recommend giving them a call to get the proper sized unit for a sedan. They can provide a model of the unit to use as a mockup for fitment under the dash before you order.

You need a little more help than that in Arkansas in August.

Ditto on vintage air. Upgrade your alternator to at least 100 amps to handle both the blower and A/C clutch and especially if you have an electric rad fan.

Use a "trinary" switch that will turn the fan on only as needed based on heat.
