Rear spring Restoring a 31 Coupe with rumble seat. My top (shortest) rear spring is broken, rest look good. Just wondering if there would be an issue running without the one leaf ? Would appreciate any opinion. Thanks

Re: Rear spring The top leaf usually has a chamfered edge to fit the inside of the crossmember. If yours does, and you eliminate it, the next leaf may not sit properly in the crossmember unless you chamfer it.

Re: Rear spring I took out a couple of the rear leaves from my 30 coupe years ago to soften the ride. It did soften the ride some with no apparent side effects.

Re: Rear spring I had a top leaf broken on a 10 leaf front spring. I ground a V and MIG welded it. It's working fine.
