LED tail lights on 6V

1 Attachment(s)
I had a pleasant surprise today. I wanted to put some LED tail lights on my 6V Model A Tudor just for safety and I had a couple of 6-LED units on the shelf that were destined for my trailer. They were labeled for 12V but I tried them on 6V and surprise, they lit up on 6V so I will use them on the Model A !!!

I did the same to my 52 willy's truck....ran 2 extra 12 volt red LED lights on my 6 volt system....tails and brakes...they work great!!! I figured this out after standing in front of a store shelf full of different lights and pressing the "press here" tab on the package to try out the lights.....then it dawned on me....if 4 double A batteries will light a light for testing in a package....why can't a 6 volt system with a generator run them all the time....that was 3yrs ago and they are still working great...and nice and bright.

Just remember. LED lights are polarity sensitive

I bought a set of 6 volt LED replacement tail lights from Mikes A Ford Able. They are INSANELY BRIGHT, day or night!!! I feel so much safer driving my A with them.
