Model A engine = 4 SBC Crate motors |
Re: Model A engine = 4 SBC Crate motors Always entertained by "for sale" ads.
As I write this, there is a "B" mod on e-bay with Gemsa overhead. listed at $15k, just dropped to $10k buy it now. It seems to me Model A's and real estate have something in common, sellers emotional attachment. IMHO, the flathead could be built new currently for less, the Gemsa head not so much. J |
Re: Model A engine = 4 SBC Crate motors It's because it's RED.

Re: Model A engine = 4 SBC Crate motors Pressure mains? OR Pressure Mains & Rods? BIG difference.
Still overpriced. WAY overpriced. Guess I don't have a big enough emotional attachment |
Re: Model A engine = 4 SBC Crate motors Simply trolling for a fool ! Wayne

Re: Model A engine = 4 SBC Crate motors It is a Jay Steele motor, and there aren't any more of those being built. He did a 392 hemi motor for me years ago, and frustrated me at the time with his pickiness for absolute perfection and doing it his way; but I am still driving the car it is in regularly and the motor has been trouble free for many miles. I can see some apparent overpricing; but I sure would like to have that motor, knowing it would be trouble free and with good performance for many years.

Re: Model A engine = 4 SBC Crate motors Remember even back decades ago . . .anything Model B Ford was considered rare and sought after. A friend sold a beautiful restored black 1932 B Model tudor sedan for something around $7500 back in 1972.
Had a tentative swap deal underway back in 1968 which today probably seems insane. The thing was a direct trade of my nice original low-mileage 1940 Packard series 180 formal sedan. That car had the enclosed dual side-mounts and jump-seats in the back. It was a spectacular automobile. Trade was for a mint condition professionally restored 1932 Model B Ford coupe. Eventually, the guy decided to keep his 32 Model B coupe and I later swapped the Packard for a really nice sand color 1936 Ford 3-window V8 coupe with rumble seat. Never cared much for the looks of a 36' Ford. The longer owned, the less it was appreciated. That rare long back section coupe I thought was ugly, so flipped it for hard cash. So in this late day and age, which of those three cars is worth more? ?? Does any of this matter now? I think not . . . . |
