I don't believe they were the most reputable yards. I think their business model made them fold up the business. There are a lot of horror stories out there and if those involved are on the barn this thread could get long. I've heard of lawsuits but they may be just rumors. Personally I was lucky and didn't become a customer.

Yup. What "foxfire42" wrote x 1,000. VERY shady business practices did them in, from what I heard.

I remember them. They always had a big add in Hemmings and had pictures of all kinds of Model A's

Medicine Bow Motors was run by shady individual for many years, finally ripped off too many people including the IRS. The feds sold it out at auction, the property and inventory was bought by a Real nice guy and his wife who ran it for several years in the late 80's early 90's doing very nice restoration work. My dad's 29 Tudor that his dad bought in 1941 as their family car/truck/tractor was painted there in 1988 and still looks very nice today, the laquaer paint shows only very minor spider webbing. The new owners sold out and retired back to Kansas, the property is now a lumber yard.

Here's a link to their webpage "About Us" section - sounds like they were still in business at a different location as of a few years ago anyways:

A friend and I drove my unrestored '29 coupe from Portland to Missoula in 1982 just for the road trip and to see MBM. When we arrived at their solid wood, 10' high gate, they were locked up, and when we knocked and told them about our trip, someone yelled some profane suggestions that we should depart. We did. Altogether it was a great trip, though, in spite of horse's fantail behind the fence.

I happened to drive through Missoula last fall with the same friend, looking for the site of Medicine Bow, but the area has grown up so much we weren't sure exactly where the old MBM was.

Real sad ending was the on site crushing of whatever was left. There was a photo of two 1932 B-400's side by side that I'll always remember. Bob
