Upper is 1939 up, if bellhousing says "59" it's '46-8, if prewar lots of little details will ID it properly. Heads are prewar but are easily swapped.
Lower is probably '35-6 but again details are needed to be sure.
Pan should have an extra little lump at RF for vent if '35-6, if none it would be '32-4 with drains identifying '32. All upper parts would be wrong if in this category.
I think the water inlets/mounts will likely have a prefix from part number that would indicate last home...again, I think '35-6.

New pic...not '32, pan looks like '33-4 to me. Should lack vent if so.

The top pic is a 24 stud 39 -46. It looks like the pumps may be in the heads on the lower picture. 32 thru 37. Do they spin?? That's half the battle getting them apart.

Lower photo, not '32 nor '37. Front motor mount brackets/water inlets and oil pan say '33-'34.

Either desireable for rebuild? Going t look at a B motor. Could package one in if scrap value or slightly above

Re: What motors are these?

The old motors always have some value but not much unless the block is proven to be sound. If a block is bad, it's only worth the price of the usable cores inside or out. I wouldn't pay much for one that has spent much time out behind a barn. Most old engines were yanked out for a good reason.

Re: What motors are these?

yea I was mainly trying to determine the value of the pieces on it if I assume the block and crank are shot. If I break even on that, I would do it and hope I hit a good block. More optimistic on the 33-34 as at least someone saw fit to cover up the holes on it.

Re: What motors are these?

The lower engine has '35 front motor mounts, and pre-'36 heads.

Believe it or not, there are blocks with a 59 on the bell that are 221 ci that do have the shelf above the front gear cover. I have one in my pile.

Those are replacement motors for consumer demand as WWII was coming to an end. Ford partially modified their old casting mold boxes to "59" upgrades while retaining some of the old features resulting in those different oddball configurations.

Picture # 3 is 21 stud 1937 or early 1938

Re: What motors are these?

V8ER,

You're right those are '35 front motor mount brackets.

V12Bill,

If the third photo from the top is a '37 or early '38. why are there no water pumps or block-off plates on the front of the block?

Re: What motors are these?

Sorry, I thought I saw center water hose on the heads. On closer inspection, I see the water pumps in the head.
