mechanical gauges
 

I have a 1950 F1,with a 8ba engine. I want to put in mechanical gauges for the temp & oil. What gauge brand would you recommend, and who sells 'em?

Find some nice vintage Stewart Warner gauges . Still the best looking and there are always lots of them on EBAY.

I used Stewart Warner gauges on my '41 Coupe. Bought them new from Speedway. Black face/white lettering. I paired the oil pressure and water temp in a dual housing. Mounted them at the bottom center of the dash. My car is not Concourse. Have not been criticized for them. They look and work well. It is sure nice to know EXACTLY what my O P and temp is.

Anything but new Stuart Warner. They are made in Mexico by a company called Maxima Technologies (head office is in PA). That company does not know the meaning of Customer service. Just my 2 cents worth!!!!

further to my above post-- I have used Sun-pro. I have found that they are reasonable quality, reasonably priced and available at most auto parts supply stores.

I installed a pair of Sun-Pro Temp gauges 10 years ago and they have been flawless.

I have used Equus gauges for mechanical gauges. Inexpensive and they work very well. They have different face patterns. Stewart Warner isn't what they used to be unfortunately.

This is what I use as seen in the attached photos below. Two gauges in one - very accurate and it takes up less room....
