February 22, 1941
 

Today marks the completion of 75 years of owning and driving my 1930 Model A Standard Coupe. Continually registered and used except for my WWII service when it was stored. Never been on a wrecker or a flat bed car carrier.

Congratulations Rich. I have seen that car, and it is a beauty. I like it better than your others.

Congratulations on owning your A for a long time. I can imagine you know that car in and out. Also thank you for your great service during a very crucial and important time of our history.

Congrats! What prompted you to keep it so long? First car that you just didn't get rid of? I'd love to hear the reason. Also worthy of an article in either The Restorer, Model A News or one of the old car mags.

That is great. Wish I had my first car, a 1950 Studebaker. At least I still have the first Model A I bought, but I bet I never get to own it for 75 years.:D

In November I will have been alive 75 years. Dad brought me & Mom home from the hospital in a Model A. Does that count?

First, thanks for your service to our country during such a terrible time. I know and admire your record of service.
Congradulations on keeping the Coupe running all these years. I suspect you will bring it to the club picnic.

75 years of ownership ! Now THAT is something that many may aspire to, but few will achieve ! Actually, reaching 75 years of age is something to aspire to as well. Congratulations on achieving both. - Doug Vieyra, 73 years old.

Thanks for the kind words and thoughts. As I read the comments I see the assumption is that it was my first Model A, Actually my first was another 30 Coupe with a homemade box built in the rumble or trunk area, bought in 1937, My best buddy and I split the $10 cost plus the fifty cents delivery charge (25.miles). Before becoming legal drivers my buddy and I had also split the ($10) cost of a 30 Fordor. On my own I had acquired for $4 a mint 28 Tudor with no engine (a fisherman had put the engine in his boat) and a running Model A chassis ($5) for an intended engine transplant. Only the Coupe survived my selloff for WWII service.

Dear Mr. Barnstuf,

You once helped me out when I was in desperate need of a bearing retainer. At 44 years of age, I am only 4 years into Model A ownership, and have have not ever served a war. Hard to see how I will surpass your record. May you make it to 100 years.
