I have a Model B head that I don't know much about; is this the head that has the high compression, if so what is the compression ratio? Thanks for any help

That's a Model A police head 5.2 ratio, the Model B head had a large
letter C on it. See the link to Vince's site http://www.fordgarage.com/pages/head...ssionratio.htm

Compression is 5.2. I'm running them on 2 of my cars. Love them both. Someone did a really god job grinding the B off one of them so it looks like a stock head and passes fine point judging.

That is exactly what I did to my 'B' Police Head back in 1975. At that time (long before there were engine shops specializing in making Model A 'Touring Engines') I also had the stock engine on my '28 Phaeton rebuilt with a 'C' crank (from a '34), 5 bearing cam, etc., etc.. following the recommendation as laid out in the 'Speed' book of the time, Fisher's FORD SPEED MANUAL*, a Floyd Clymer publication from 1952.

As I was restoring the car to meet Blue Ribbon judging standards, I carefully ground off any indications that the head was a 'B' Police Head.

Re: Information on Model B Head

Just to clarify: The 'B' head (with the 'C' marking) for the '32 - '34 4 cylinder engines, had a 3 hole mounting for the Pump/goose-neck unit; quite different from the Model A head. And while the heads are inter-changeable to the engine block, the water-pumps are not inter-changeable on the heads. Difference in heads is easy to identify.

Maybe I have one of those. Thanks for that info.
