What do you use to seal either wire-on or hidem welting and do you use it both underneath it before you tack it on and then also in between it to seal it closed?

Thanks Gary, I am doing a 29 std Sept coupe and do not have the skill or patience to use metal front and rear roof trim so I am using the wire on welting that folds over once it is tacked down. Just want to know what I should put under it before I tack it in place and what I should put in it before I fold it over. I just want a good water tight seal.

I have used the black pure 100% silicone. but you need to be very careful about keeping it off of things, messy ! but works.may be other caulks available.

What about using the Locktite roofing black polyurethane? It stays a little pliable. Anyone use that?

I would use that or any windshield setting urethane rather than the black silicone. I used to think silicone until a windshield installer said that silicone tends to cause rust around windshields. I did notice while working at the junk yard that cars and trucks where the owners had smeared silicone were the worst ones for rust in that area.
