Trade or keep what I have? I just found a pretty nice 31 station wagon ,I was talking to the owner and and I showed him some pictures of my early 1929 leather back four door it's a real nice car and has a junior AACA award .The man offered me a trade witch I think was fair .The 31 needs some paint work and some freshing up would you trade?

Re: Trade or keep what I have? Both great cars and station wagons are great for touring etc.
However there is plenty of wood work to look after and if you are not into wood work I would no trade. I like them, but I hate wood work and I like low maintenance stuff. |
Re: Trade or keep what I have? The bottom line will be what do you want out of both cars. Each has features that are unique . And only you can weigh and decide which car will serve you the best. The consences will almost always be fifty percent will pick the sedan the others will pick the wagon. You have seen the wagon. Is it as mechanically in the same condition your 29 is, etc the list goes on. Some pictures would be nice to make a better observation. Either way good luck and let us know what You decide

Re: Trade or keep what I have? The station wagon will mean a lot of upkeep and refinishing sooner or later. Keep the leatherback. Wayne

Re: Trade or keep what I have? If you have to ask us then it make no difference which one you pick as they are both even in your mind. As we have "rainy season" in South Florida I would rather be caught in a storm in a Fordor then a station Wagon.

Re: Trade or keep what I have? Paint work and freshening up,,, if your car doesn't need that I would pass, to much of an expense for a even up trade. Even trade if they are equal but a careful examination would be required from mechanicals on up. A lot more involved then just a handshake deal if it was me..

Re: Trade or keep what I have? If that's your leatherback in the album on your profile, I wouldn't be in a hurry to part with it! What's not to like there? Looks like a desirable car to me.
Are you looking for a change for any particular reason? Sometimes the grass looks greener over the fence, but then it can be a case of better the devil you know too! Sorry for the mixed metaphors. |
Re: Trade or keep what I have? Thank you for all of your insights ,the 29 four door in my pics is the car that I would be trading .My problem is when I see a car they almost talk to me ,I can't get them off of my mind,I was just looking at the wagon when the owner offered to trade I told him I would let him know on Monday

Re: Trade or keep what I have? Just buy the wagon and keep the car.

Re: Trade or keep what I have? Of course the other guy wants a straight up even trade...can you guess why?
If you want the wagon, buy the darn thing, but "I" would not trade it. But you, must do, what you, want to...do |
Re: Trade or keep what I have? While wagons look real nice, I tend to go with the benefits of roll up windows on the sedan. Yes, I like open cars and even thought about a wagon years ago, but for practical touring purposes the sedan is a better choice in my opinion. But if you are only planning on showing the car the wagon is an excellent choice as they are unique and stand out at a car show.

Re: Trade or keep what I have? Sometimes it's good just to learn to be IMMENSELY HAPPY WITH THE CAR YOU OWN!
"Sometimes" when you change cars, you discover hidden "cans of worms" inside the SEAT RISER!!! Or under the splash tray, in the pan. Bill Happy |
Re: Trade or keep what I have? I prefer wagons, but the only question that matters is what you prefer?
