Guys,

in need of some guidance here. Have to order wiring stuff. For an early ..1929 tudor. It will need turn lights, but I happen to be a purist. Where what to order.
I built up the car from scratch, so anything is possible.
Buy a combined harness meaning for turn lights included or go for seperate light/turn light wiring.
What suppliers do you recommend ?

call Snyder`s and talk to there tech, guy. the have the wire harnesses that has the turn signal wires in them. if you add the right hand tail light you can use them in the rear, it is the front that you need to decide where to put them. they will walk you through your options.

Do you have fluted headlamps, or the TWOLITE lamps introduced in February 1929?
Do you have a drum taillight?

Sacramento Vintage Ford has the correct full length harness for the drum taillight. I bought two for my 28 and early 29, and they are nice.

I would use original style wiring, then add a separate harness for turn signals, if you install them.

What was the last date of the drum tail light on a '29?

What is the condition of the wiring you all ready have?
What are you using for the lights?

Adding lights, add wire, most vendors will sell the thread covered wire by the foot.

Existing lights (cowl, headlight parking) get a new harness wired for turn signals.

I have the fluted 1 bulb headlights and will buy drum style rear lights.

I recently wired my 190A restoration, and I highly recommend the main harness that has turn signals built-in.

HMMN! According to my engine number, Vermin is a June '29 Coupe. He has the "D" nuts for a drum tail light, never saw the frame number. The body has been sectioned across the sill plate, "maybe" the rear part of the body was replaced??? Engine I.D. plate has NEVER been re-stamped. OH, the MYSTERY of it all!!!!:confused: If my "GHOST" were still around, he could check the FRAME # for me--LOL

My feb. 1929 Tudor came with D nuts as well as fender mounted taillights. Same mystery. Early 1929 Ford had a policy of using up all old parts before going model year 1929. Maybe they took so long changing the sub frame. Maybe the Danisch dealer put fender mounted lights on because he had to deliver a right taillight in Europe

I also have a 29 Tudor body that has the D nuts with screw plugs and has the fender mounted taillight on the left. I don't recall the tank date, but it was March of 1929 I think.

Hi Tom,

Wha is it that makes you believe having the trun signal harness seperate is the better way ? Just trying to understand before ordering anything.

I like to keep the car as original as possible, and by running a separate harness, it would be just like the dealer added an accessory back when the car was new.
It also makes troubleshooting easier if anything goes wrong.
It also makes it cleaner and easier to remove or move location of the lights if someone so desires.

Vermins' existing "D" nuts would make a good mount for a C.B. antenna or a flag mount or a framed pic of Buster T.

If you want you can wire in your own switch and "hide" it behind the dash panel.

I use and highly recommend the turn signal module from Electro-Tech
http://www.turnswitch.com/Turnsignal.htm. This a compact unit that is easy to wire and can be hidden inside your kick panel. It can handle 6V & 12V positive or negative grounds and can operate incandescent or LED lamps. I installed a momentary switch under my dash completely hidden which is used for turning on the left or right turn signals. I use my original cowl lights and tail lights which have LED lights installed in the original sockets. Holding the momentary switch on for 4 seconds turns on the emergency flashing mode. The turn sign on time is adjustable. When you stop and hold your brake on the turn signal keeps flashing. When you release the brake the timer then times out.
