Borg Warner Overdrive Repair Needed
 

While driving my 30 Coupe I heard a loud thud from under the floor board. It will no longer go into overdrive or back up. I am looking for someone in the south to repair my OD unit. I would like to find someone a short distance away to keep shipping cost down. I live in Louisiana.

There are several people in Southern California that can repair them. However, if you do mechanical work on your car you can repair it yourself. They are not that difficult. The worst part is worrying a series of snap rings out. Replacement parts are still available.

Go to the web site of the Santa Anita A's of Arcadia, California at www.santaanitaas.org. On the home page put your curser on "Technical Reference". My name will appear below, click on it and it will pull up a series of articles that include several on the Borg Warner overdrive modified for a Model A. The articles show how to repair it and include a lot of photos.

You may find that having someone repair it for you is not cost effective. In that case it would be best to remove it and replace it with a Mitchell overdrive. Borg Warner conversions are cumbersome to use and are easily damaged. They have pretty much gone out of vogue. The Mitchell is the way to go. An easy installation.

i have your article on the recommended way to wire a borg warner overdrive to a Model A Ford. However I am unable to figure out how to connect the which wires to hook up to the headlight relay. I know #30 is power in from the battery, but What goes to #87,85,86. Sorry I can't figure it out from the schematic. Thanks.
