I guess that everyone except me likes them? When I heard they were coming, I ordered a new 2014 with a steel body and the biggest F&$@!?@ motor that I could get. they look way too generic for my liking, and it will take 5 years to see how they react to the road salt, and if the paint will stay on. time will tell.

I love mine. No road salt here to worry about. The 2.7L Ecoboost has plenty of pickup and it gets great gas mileage. I have 3K miles and I am averaging 21.7 mpg. I drive 50 miles a day round trip to work and gas mileage was a factor in my decision. I haven't had the opportunity to tow my boat yet. I will see how well it tows at some point. My boat is stored on a lift over the water and I only tow it when I bring it in for service which is not very often.

Companies make many mistakes, but the F150 is the goose that lays the golden egg for Ford. They could not afford to miss on this one. Apparently they did pretty well. It could have been a little more groundbreaking, in my view, but I guess they didn't want to get to far off the path to success. With gas prices as low as they are, it isn't as much of an issue right now.

I have a friend with an earlier version truck with Ecoboost and he really likes it.

yea I've seen alot of issues with paint and trying to keep it stuck to ford aluminum and fiberglass panels. Time will tell. I haven't liked the looks of the full size fords since 1986 when they went from sealed beam headlights to composite. Look too plasticy to me and thru the 90s the interiors were bland as hell. New ones front ends look too suv like to me but I do like the interiors!

Pickups; 3 Chevs, 2 Fords, 2 GMCs -- = 1 bad GMC, 1 bad Ford, others OK.
Every now and again there's one that was built on a Monday morning or Friday afternoon.

most cube trailers and cube trucks are aluminum and hold up to the michigan salty roads. i have seen some aluminum degradation but the trailers were old. and if they were steel would have been long gone.

I have an aluminum hood on my ranger and the paint started failing at 3 years old although I see others of the same year they are OK. It may be a hit or miss deal.

Where I am it's the frames that disappear.All makes.Some are just faster than others.In 1976 I put a new frame under a Land Rover.In 1986 I did it again.I don't know what became of the truck after that,but the owner was old back then.I don't know where he bought the frames,but a truck would show up at the garage and we would unload the new one.I just put a frame under my 96 Dodge.I did the rear half three years ago,but this summer the rest of it fell apart.I.m not about to spend $64.000 on a new plow truck,so a couple hundred hours in this truck is worth it.I have a nice looking F 150 in the garage right now,the owner ain't gonna be happy when I show him completely missing sections of frame on the truck he just bought.

I hope they painted ALL the underneath components! I've seen MANY trucks, vans, etc, with MANY bare metal parts!

Although not a true Jeep my 2007 Jeep Liberty save my life in Nov 2012 when a deer hit the whole windshield at 45mph.... Deer covered 100% of windshield, then when over the roof... Car was totaled...

I have a 2006 F150 with a V6 and a 5 spd manual. A stripper with a short bed. A nice truck. I kinda wish it had the long bed and a V8 so I could tow something of substance, but when I bought it, I never expected to do any towing. I dream a little about a new truck, but I have no real reason to buy one. Too darned expensive, anyway. I pd 7 for my truck used a few years ago with 54K miles on it.

Assuming it was properly applied, getting paint to stick to AL is old tested tech. If you want to see paint that stays put on AL even after being exposed to incredible amounts of solar radiation and 500-600mph winds, just visit any airport!

The problem will come if you get in an accident. Good luck finding a body shop that will know how to repair an AL panel.

I had a 2004 F150 heritage I got used with 20k miles in 2006 for $10,500. It was the 1996-2003 body style and it was short bed truck that the only difference between it and say a white U-Haul rental was a nice metallic candy apple red paint job... Truck was great, 5 speed manually, rubber floor mat... I wish I still had it...
