1953 f-100

was planning to do some body work on my 53 today , started it up to warm it up before bringing it into garage, went:confused: in to get a coffee , when i came out oil was pouring out of the breather tube, looks like i am in for a lot more work , other then the body work.

That oil has to come oil pan, up through breather that sticks into the bottom of the intake manifold, then up into the breather tube on the out side of the intake and down the front of the engine and along left side of the oil pan and then out on the ground. If that's where the oil is pouring out there must have a lot of blow by in that engine. Is that correct? Walt

Start it again tomorrow and see if it's any better...Probably not. Check your plugs (oily?)then compression.
Sounds like you may have a nice winter project ahead.
Keep us posted.

Check oil sender unit on back of block, see if it isn't leaking and oil running along pan rail and dripping off by the draft tube. Walt

added two qts of oil, started engine ,it ran fine 45lbs oil pressure, after a couple of minutes pressure dropped to zero ,i shut down the engine right away, thinking it has to be the oil pump.

oil is definitely coming out of draft tube.

Is the oil in some strange way filling up the gallery and not returning to the pan...
Oiltube in the gallery broken...
If pressure drops instantly and not slowly probably running out of oil.

Throwing my hat in there. Your drains in the lifter valley are plugged. Get a new intake gasket, pull the intake and, at minimum, run a rod through the valley drains. If it were me, I would probably pull the pan plug and wash out the lifter valley with kerosene and a stiff brush, then pour some fresh oil through the middle of the valley to make sure the cam has lube.

Then fill, run a sludge remover and drain again, then refill.

The 8BA breather tube under the intake sticks up into the manifold about 1/8in. It's possible that someone has installed a 59 breather pipe under the intake and there is gap and some how the oil is blowing up into the tube. Tell us what you find after you pull the intake and the oil pan. Walt
