DIY wood graining

Happy New Year have a great A Day:)

I am redoing the interior on a 31 slant window 4 door. MY wood graining is a treat to say the least.

question: are the windshield side pillers woodgrained? :confused:like the dash and window frames? the PO put in black everything, with the wrong interior.

How about the interior rear view mirror? Is it also wood grained?

Re: DIY wood graining

after studying the photos
I do not see windlace up the edge of the windows behind the chrome knob that meets the headliner, runs the entire length of the hinge side of the door. mine has it installed.
I ordered the LB interior and would like it to be as close as possible.
I am not doing the fine pointie thingie:)
Richard
ps dave had a good question also about the mirror

Rich
good eye, the wind-lace on the front edge of the front door of all slant window bodies goes up the front edge of the door, not on the cowl. the inside mirror brackets are black enamel.

Rich:
Are you using one of the kits?
If so let me know how it goes for you.

Re: DIY wood graining

By chance if I missed the question about "the Kit" I mentioned LB panel kit but also I am using the "GRAIN-IT" kit first adventure with the graining, it was very slow, a lot of correcting and lost ink. But with practice and patience I did get better. won't pass for concours but over time its getting better. Trying to get the same pressure on the roller and same amount of in on the plate is the real challenge. I went with chemical paint remover, rinse with water, 100grit to 650 to 1000 to 1500. RED OXDIDE primer, base color allowing time for each coat to dry. Inking the plate and go for it, I got everything from Grain-it, and be sure to watch all the factory videos. very informative.
The interior kit is on the way should be here in early Feb. removing each piece marking it, many photos so I can remember and not use CRS for a excuse.

The "kit" yep, that is what I wa getting at.
I've thought about it but heard how hard it really is, maybe later down the road I'll try my hand at it.
All my trim is primer right now, to bad they don't make a wood grain rattle can paint.

Re: DIY wood graining

the metal window header strip that the vertical upholst. piece slips into (wiper, mirror area) is also wood grained, but not the front window frame itself.

Re: DIY wood graining

Thanks about the SW Header Strip also being wood grained!
