Stop light switch/29 style

A question for the forum: I'm currently building a 29 speedster I have experienced an odd occurrence. I mounted the stoplight switch on the shifting tower I hook up the attaching hook connecting the switch and brake peddle. I press down on the peddle and connecting rod protruding from the brake switch bends up and will not return into the switch. What is going on? This is the 3rd switch. Any help is appreciated

You need to adjust the brakes so the pedal doesn't have to travel so far that it pulls the brake switch rod out of the end hole in the case. This means the switch also needs to be adjusted by use of the two mounting slots.

Thanks Tom,
So I need to move the switch forward and make sure the peddle does not travel as far. Correct.

The pedal should not move more than about 2 1/2" before all the wheels lock up.

Brake Adjustment PDF is just one of many published methods.
