Ford dealership 1928 |
Re: Ford dealership 1928 Wish I had a pic of our home town Dealership, built entirely of RIVER ROCKS, it's still used as an independent Auto Repair. Chief worked there, part time.

Re: Ford dealership 1928 Picture 3 shows the shop area, notice the oil on the floor, this was 1928 when the cars were new, this proves that they are supposed to leak...that take a load off my mind.

Re: Ford dealership 1928 A very wise gentleman told me that if a Model A is not leaking, there's likely no oil in it.

Once put HEAVY SHAG carpet on my creeper, for comfort, left it under a leaky Old Jaguar engine for the weekend, when I first laid on it, it went, "SQUISH":eek::eek::eek: Bill Black |
Re: Ford dealership 1928 There are some great pictures there. Thats a great site.

Re: Ford dealership 1928 Thanks for sharing the pic's. I wish I could find good online pic's of the Ford dealership in North Platte, Ne. built in 1928. It is currently a large furniture store. My Mom worked at the furniture store most of the years that she worked and my sister now works there. I have good memories of a few days that I spent at the store and rolling down the ramp going to the second story. I mainly remember the fun more than getting in trouble for doing it. Also would hide in the unused third story. Rod

Re: Ford dealership 1928 I use a pan from an auto parts store, and put it in place with a old brake rod with a hook on one end. I use pampers with the plastic side in the pan. Roll it and throw it away about every 2 years.

Re: Ford dealership 1928 Leaking? I thought they were just marking their territory.

Re: Ford dealership 1928 thanks for the photos, pics of these old dealerships are fascinating.
the one pic showing the shop is funny in that the place looks like a mess, contrary to all the hyperbole on the Bulletins about a clean shop etc. |
Re: Ford dealership 1928 Apparently the dealership folded during the Depression. It is now a hardware store, although the facade has changed.
The shop with the Ts on one side and the As on the other is also interesting. I wonder what the chassis cowl was going to become? |
Re: Ford dealership 1928 It would be fun to get a phone book or yellow pages from about 1930 and see how many of the Ford dealers are still around, or at least the buildings still standing. Good idea for a Model A day trip to drive around and visit the old buildings.

Re: Ford dealership 1928 I better check my engine oil, the floor underneath is always clean. Thanks guys for the heads up

Re: Ford dealership 1928 Tom, I know of 5 within a 2 hr drive from here. Although one is a barn built of cottonwood lumber out in the middle of nowhere. Would be hard to look at it and tell that it was once a business of any sort. Rod

Re: Ford dealership 1928 1 Attachment(s)
The picture attached is from the Ford Dealership in Delton, MI in 1937 right up the road from the Model A Museum at Gilmore. It still looks pretty much the same and has a Model A in the front window still.

Re: Ford dealership 1928 all the old dealerships seem to have the tall gas pump out front on the sidewalk.....I wonder where the storage tank for the gas was located, surely they were not allowed to dig up a city street for that purpose.

Minnesota had a Ford dealership just like that, and it's been in the same family since it opened in the teens. A couple years ago Ford told them they had to build a new building or loose the franchise, so they folded. |
