Interesting. A Model A Deluxe Pickup. Who knew?

Charles Sorensen helped set up the GAZ plant in the Soviet Union and has some interesting stories from there in his book My Forty Years with Ford.

It looks about the same as our Deluxe pickup except I don't
see the bolts holding the bed to the cab.

"That bed looks different"

once you've seen a deluxe PU you won't forget it
I knew a guy with a primo Deluxe PU who took it to shows loaded with a boatload of supporting documents and pictures because each time there was a know-it-all 'judge' who would accuse him of customizing the body

Looks like it has a seam on the bedside, center of the fender.

You don't have to go to Russia to see one. I photographed this one in Bethel CT.

Very nice indeed, I wonder why they never reached North America! Wayne

As interesting as the GAZ 4 is in the photo on post #7 might be, the circumstances depicted are sad. Notice the solder with the fixed bayonet rifle is a nazi. Their treatment of Russian captives in WW2 was brutal.

Re: 1935 Russian GAZ de luxe pickup

As WWII ended in Europe I was in the area of Germany that became the Russian Zone of Occupation. As the Russian Army moved in for Occupation duty my US Air Corps contingent of men was with them for a week. The troops mostly walked, not in a cadence, but just walking. The only vehicles I saw were a lot of Model AA stake body trucks used to carry cargo. I did not see any Model A pickups or passenger types. We had difficulty conversing with the Russian soldiers but they were all friendly and assisted us in getting our large C 2 aircraft retrieval vehicle and flat bed trailer out of a river where it was so heavy it sunk a pontoon bridge and took a bath.
