The Ford "Dealer" News... This must be different than that of The Ford News.
Does anyone know of a complete collection of these peridolicals or where copies can be acquired? I think they went through the Model A/AA years. Thanks. Pluck |
Re: The Ford "Dealer" News... They went up to the war. I have a few issues in the 30s. After the war they brought back the Ford Times which were popular in the T years.

Re: The Ford "Dealer" News... I Think they were called : "Ford Dealer and Service Field". At least that is what I have about twenty issues of. I believe they went from Model T years, through Model A years, and onto the V-8 years. Mine are mechanical instruction about common problems that repair shops were concerned with. But additionally, I enjoy all the great many advertisements about all the various things, gizmos, gadgets and tools, that applied to the Ford Motor Car.

Re: The Ford "Dealer" News... The Ford Dealer & Service Field is the "orange" magazine that was published during the Model T, Model A and on into the V-8 period. It was not produced by Ford and had no Ford connection. It was aimed at the dealer's showing them how to make their dealerships more profitable. I reprinted the first ones in 1928 but there didn't seem to be much interest so have not printed any more.

Re: The Ford "Dealer" News... The two magazines, "The Ford Dealer & Service Field", and "The Ford News", are two separate and distinct publications. Each has it's own separate focus and market / readership.
The "Ford News" was meant to be a 'house organ' - that is to say a propaganda piece published by the Ford Motor Company for the edification of it's Ford Motor Car owners. "The Ford Dealer & Service Field" was not published by the Ford Motor Company and was meant to be primarily an on-going, monthly 'Shop Manual' for mechanics, along with advertisements that would appeal to mechanics and shop foremen. - Doug Vieyra, Librarian, Eureka, Calif. Re: The Ford "Dealer" News... I have a complete (or nearly complete) set for the Model A era. They're a bit tattered, but I could probably make copies of articles and advertisements if you needed something specific.

Re: The Ford "Dealer" News... I believe Pluck is referring to "The Ford Dealers News" a much scarcer publication than either the "Ford News" or the "Ford Dealer and Service Field".
They pop up on eBay from time to time. Here are a couple covers from eBay Sold listings: http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/JA4AAO...n5/s-l1600.jpg http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/CWAAAO...M8/s-l1600.jpg http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/uN4AAO...bA/s-l1600.jpg http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/OPcAAO...Qb/s-l1600.jpg http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/3J8AAO...n0/s-l1600.jpg Fordially, Brad in Maryland |
Re: The Ford "Dealer" News... Brad,
You win the $64,000.00 question! Those are the ones. I wonder who would have a complete set of these...bet they are hard to find. So if they were published 2 times a month, that must then mean that there were about 96 issues just for the Model A/AA era! Thank you sir and Merry Christams. Pluck |
