foreign language paperwork

has anyone seen, have or know were to get copies of the model A instruction manuals in Japanese? I know they were made in many countries, but have never seen one other than English. I live in Japan and am looking to find one from the Japanese plant in Tokyo or any original paper from there. I am trying to register my 29 roadster and any documentation would help.

Thank you,

There was no Ford plant in Tokyo that I am aware of...HOWEVER there was one in Yokohama. There is a video out called "The Yokohama A" that is very interesting.

By the way, if your 1929 Roadster was actually built there...then it is just one of 70 that were produced in 1929.

I can offer you the Model A instruction manual in German. The German original is an incredibly well translated version of the original. Especially thinking about "Google Translator" and "Internet" was available 80 years past 1928...

I would love one in German, as my family came from Germany.

Contact The Beller Museum in Romeoville, IL (suburb of Chicago). If one does exist Dr. Jordon Beller surely has one in his collection.

If it is just a translation you need ...

You can get an app for phones and tablets that will do translation. It is for travellers. It may do Japanese by now.
Point the tablet camera at the signpost (or book) and it will do a rough translation.

Or, scan the original pages and OCR (optical character recognition) to them to lift the words and then run it through Google Translate. (Better for page/book translation)

Might be enough for rego, unless they want original doco.

Steve, you say there were only 70, were did you get this info from if you please. this is the kind of info i need because the Japanese vehicle inspectors are a pain in the backside, it is up to me to show them that they were made in Japan.

I got this information from the Ford Archives in Dearborn. It is titled "Assembly Record Types...January 1 to December 31, 1929". It is in "Acc. 622 Box 1..1929" and maybe "Acc 231 Box 1...1929".

I suggest you get the ones from 1928 1930 and 1931 also.

Here is there site: 7.www.hfmgv.org The Henry Ford Museum at Grenfield Village (Michigan)

Hopefully it will help you.

Can you please tell us some history, if you know it, on your car?

There are certain things to look for such as your engine number/frame number; is there a date on the gas tank; assembly plant data.

See this: http://www.plucks329s.org/pdf/studie...ND%20CODES.pdf

Good luck maako.
