28 roadster under cowl clips Have not seen these before...
Is a 28/29 roadster/phaeton cowl RHD , seems to be original and unmolested . Has 2 holed clips on right side and one holed clip on the left side. Q1. I was thinking the only thing that may go in this direction and place is a wiper wire or vacuum line ? Did a roadster /phaeton even have a vacuum wiper. The one I had had a hand wiper. Q2. Why is there another (one only ) clip over on the other side ? http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k1...psymbyil8k.jpg http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k1...psibaioaiu.jpg http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k1...psvqcwlmpr.jpg |
Re: 28 roadster under cowl clips My 1928 Roadster Pick up has them too.

Re: 28 roadster under cowl clips The rear clips look familiar. Can't remember seeing the front one.
https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showth...2673&showall=1 photos #17 show the same. |
Re: 28 roadster under cowl clips The clip in the first photo is for a wire to the windshield wiper motor. The other two are also for wire routing, but even if wires are not used, they also position the cowl kick panel at the front top of each panel.

Re: 28 roadster under cowl clips 2manycars is correct. You need the two toward the front of the car to secure the top front corner of the cowl panel even if you don't have an electric wiper.

Re: 28 roadster under cowl clips Good info, so has anyone got a pic of an original kick panel and how it fits into the rear clips ?

Re: 28 roadster under cowl clips Would it not just fit up into the groove in the clip,

Re: 28 roadster under cowl clips Yes, the hardboard panel fits in the subrail extension channel at the bottom. There are three oval head sheetmetal screws that fasten the hardboard panel to the A pillar flange for the windlace with special cup washers. The clips in the top front shown in the pictures above are used to retain the top front corner of the panel in the U shaped part of the clips.
