Sled It has been a busy week. I had to pull the old guys sled out of the barn and get it ready for winter. He usually has it out by now, but with all of the junk gas being made out of ethanol he can't afford the price of corn. I really do not mind helping, but I would rather be working on my A getting it ready for the spring tour. Well I guess it is OK, at least I will be on his good list.
He's been telling me his sled is all original except for a second brake light and a red LED up front. He is thinking about adding seat belts so his wife will ride with him, but in the end I don't think it matters, every time she is in the sled it breaks down. When it happens, the old guy just laughs and says, " it's a woman thing". That is the background so here is the problem. Every time he gets it up to speed it begins to backfire and smell like bad gas. I told him it could be the cheap corn he is buying and he should buy the premium stuff. I am not sure it will totally fix the backfiring but in my opinion it will at least fix the smell. In addition, when he pulls to the right, it shutters and he notices a massive leak. I told him all sleds do this and it is just marking its territory. He is upset because it is an open cab and he believes it is a little beyond the amount to be normal. Other than adjusting the rack and tightening a couple nuts what do you all suggest to do. I am out of town right, but will send pictures latter. Thank you and apologies in advance, Paul |
