Model T with Trembler coil Hi, i want to buy a 1913 Model T Runabout.
The cas has a Trambler Coilbox mounted close to the engine. My question: was it a available accesorie at this time or is it not correct for this year? Thanks for the answers Karl |
Re: Model T with Trembler coil In 1913 the coil box would have been mounted on the passenger side of the firewall/buklhead not the engine. The engine mounted coil box was something that was stock on the 1926-1927 US Model T's. It may have been the same for those years on the overseas market cars (1916-27). If the coil box has been changed, is the engine even a 1913 engine? The encyclopedia on the Model T Ford Club of America site would be a good place to start. It's not complete but a good reference tool.

Re: Model T with Trembler coil Sometimes a car for sale is accurately described by the seller, but sometimes not. The seller may be dishonest, or honest but ignorant. So before you buy a car you need to find out if it really is what it purports to be. After 90 to 100 years, some Model T's are original stock, some have a few parts from different years, and some are a wild hodgepodge of pieces that don't belong together. I agree with Mark. Take a lot of pictures and post them here. Also put them on the MTFCA forum. You'll soon find out whether the car is really a 1913, and what's right or isn't right about it.

Re: Model T with Trembler coil Re "overseas market cars (1916-27)" The 1916 should be 1926.

Re: Model T with Trembler coil The coil box mounted on the engine is a stock 1926/1927 unit. It looks like the original coil box is mounted on the firewall - the contacts are showing in the picture of the engine area. It should work very well but is just basically wrong.

Re: Model T with Trembler coil Yes it is still there, maybe the coils dont work. I will see the car first time in two weeks because it is very far away from me.
For me it is interrest if the rest of the car is correct for a 1913 |
