Starter Bendix/Drive Bolts 1 Attachment(s)
I recently had an issue with the starter in the '50. I found that one of the drive bolts had come loose and fell off. It seems that someone replaced it with a regular grade 5 bolt and possibly a used locking tab. My question is, when I replace the drive bolts and locking tabs (have NOS replacements) should I use blue loctite 242 for extra insurance. Thanks

Re: Starter Bendix/Drive Bolts My experience has been that no Locktite is required when properly tightened.
Most Bendix bolt Problems come from bolts not installed tight enough. But then, blue Locktite can't hurt. |
Re: Starter Bendix/Drive Bolts Hi there. Just use the correct Bendix/Ford bolts for the application and fit new locking tab washers and not reused ones. There are several bolt types so its important to use the correct ones for your drive. I have never used Locktite when assembling these drives. Been doing it for over 50 years. Regards, Kevin.
