how to tell if my fordor is deluxe or standard I have a 1930 fordor A. the rear hood bracket is the deluxe style. This could be a replacement. What things made the deluxe different from the standard?http://i332.photobucket.com/albums/m...510-133225.jpg

Re: how to tell if my fordor is deluxe or standard The black flat front bumper makes it the "custom" trim line.:D

Re: how to tell if my fordor is deluxe or standard in the 70s they were painted silver. the chrome is under there but very badly damaged. the bumpers are on the replace list when the money comes around.

Re: how to tell if my fordor is deluxe or standard also the radiator trim is stainless. not sure if that is an original part but it was there in 76 when grandpa bought it.

Re: how to tell if my fordor is deluxe or standard The stainless rear hood bracket was just used in production for all cars. If your car has it, then it was just your lucky day.
BUT Is it original? I know my brothers coupe done in about 1970 has a repro stainless. The lack of cowl lights means standard. |
Re: how to tell if my fordor is deluxe or standard thanks guys. not sure how to tell if anything is original. but most the stuff on the car is damaged this way or that way which says to me its probably original. . the raditatior shell is ripped at the crank hole. but im not going for a perfect show car. just making a driver out of long sat good buy.

Re: how to tell if my fordor is deluxe or standard Pick up a copy of the restoration guidelines it has a wealth of information in it. I'll tell you what, if you buy it and you feel it is not worth your +-25.00 bucks I buy it from you.

Re: how to tell if my fordor is deluxe or standard The Town Sedan would also have woodgrained interior trim.
|
Re: how to tell if my fordor is deluxe or standard 155D Town Sedan would also have fancy escutcheons around the door handles, and the window cranks. Also the fancy wood grain garnish moldings under the window trim. Also the door pulls (on the door trim) are bright and not painted.

Re: how to tell if my fordor is deluxe or standard the yellow was a wheel color choice of the first resto. I have gone with black. I found some red paint in the mix on at least one wheel. found some of the original darker green on the body. I originally painted the car sparkly navy blue but i took a step back and got a cheap quart of omni green mix up at a local paint shop and a quart of black(as i spent my money on the blue) and shot it over the blue. http://i332.photobucket.com/albums/m...211-151828.jpg http://i332.photobucket.com/albums/m...trip/paint.jpg

Re: how to tell if my fordor is deluxe or standard I would like to emphasize what Keith said. Cowl lights. If there are no cowl lights and no indication that there were ever any (repaired/patched) holes, the car started its life as a standard. The dealers could have added cowl lights to a standard confusing the issue a little but if there are none and never were it started life as a standard.

Re: how to tell if my fordor is deluxe or standard Town Sedans also had that folding center armrest in the rear seat, rear window and quarter windows blinds. But the cowl lights and the door trim are the big giveaways.
