Bolts for a 59 AB head

Hi

I know to use grade 8 bolts and washers with 50-55 lbs tork on each.

I am told there is 3 difference lengths of bolts, shorter ones on the bottom row, 2nd row a little longer and the rest are longer yet. Any one have the exact lengths of the three different bolts? Also thread length & thread

Thanks

Andy

I think you should be looking for studs and nuts. Call Roy at Fordbolts.com. He has what you really want.
Just an opinion

Check with Ol' Ron, he is a big head bolt fan.

Seem to remember a thread about not using washers as they throw off torque readings ???? Iron or alum heads ?

I was thinking the info posted before used Catapillar bolts and had the part numbers. Can not seem to find the post using the search function. Rod

I know someone besides myself will need this. Walt came through and was kind enough to provide the various size bolts needed for a 59B. So if you want to use bolts instead of studs:

14 bolts 2-1/2in.
2 bolts 2-1/4in.
8 bolts1-3/4in.
Grade 8 bolts and washers.

Total 24 bolts and washers
4 bolts 1/2"
4 bolts 2-1/4"
16 bolts 1-3/4"
All grade 8
Tork to 50 lbs - 3 heat cycles

Something is not correct here, 1/2 inch?

Just curious: What kind of checks are performed?

3 Attachment(s)
We have special washers, from ARP, to work with the factory bolts. They are .070" thick, are chamfered, and require no machining on the existing head bolt bosses. They have NO effect on the necessary torque numbers.

You can barely notice them when installed and they eliminate any "galling" on the heads. We use them on both iron and aluminum.

Not sure (today) about the bolt lengths between the 59 and the 8BA but we keep the 8BA's on hand.

Thanks, Gary in N.Y.

P.S. We use these on all the SBC resto's we build, they "save" the older heads. We sell a high number of these washers AND the bolts for both the Flathead's and the Chev's.
