Rumble seat question 30 Coupe

On another site, a gentleman has a rumble seat that he has removed from a 29 Coupe, and he is converting his car back to a trunk.

My question is will a 29 coupe rumble seat, hinges, step plates, etc fit a 30 Coupe?

TIA
Clay

Assuming that your body is already setup with the correct rumble seat body components in the lower body opening area (i.e. it is a rumble seat body), I think the only concerns with using a 1928-29 lid on a 1930-31 body are the locations of the handle/latch on the lid itself and the location of the striker on the drip rail. 1928-29 had the striker mounted on the front edge of the driprail, while 1930-31 used the rear edge to compensate for the change in the location of the handle/latch (which was apparently done to avoid body damage if the lid was closed with the latch in the wrong position).

I have only done the opposite (1930-31 lid on a 28-29 body) not the other way around. This involved only relocating the striker from the front to rear edge of the drip rail. In your case, I think all that needs to be done is to move the striker from the rear to front lip and recess the rear lip for latch clearance similarly to a 1928-29 driprail. Clear as mud?? Here's some pictures (Roadsters) I saved when getting this figured out. If you want to be totally authentic, look for a 30-31 lid. Good luck.

The rear floor pan (original) for a 29 Coupe will NOT fit the 30 Coupe as the right and left tabs (with the two holes for attaching each side) will not fit. Where the 29's are pointed upward and have a slight indentation on the sides, the 30's are pointed down and no indentation.

All other parts I believe are interchangable.

Ok I have the trunk lid original to my car and its the original 30 trunk lid that came with the car.

I have also installed aftermarket floor pans, rear filler panel, etc, from berts to accommodate the rumble seat.

With the exception of some minor changes, so I should be able to adapt this to my car with out to many "major modifications"

Is that correct?

TIA

Yes. The photos above are excellent. You will have to cut a hole for the handle at the top of the lid, and fill the hole left behind on the bottom, and repaint the lid. Also drill a hole in the fender for your step plate. The tricky parts are getting your holes positioned correctly, and aligning the lid so it doesn't scrape anywhere. You'll need a helper to install the lid.
