Jailbar fasteners ???

I have a few '46 and'47 trucks that are missing the grille bars. I have now rounded up a pretty good collection of used bars but the bolts I got from C&G ford parts don't fit in the bars. I have tried a lot of solutions as I already installed 2 other sets over the past 2 years. The C&G pieces are about 3/4 square with a 10-24 stud. They are just too wide. Previously I have cut them down with a cutoff wheel (tedious), bent the edges outward or inward, made my own from 1/8 x 1/2" strap steel by drilling many holes in it, welding in bolts and then cutting them off in the chop saw. I guess what I'm asking in my usual long winded way is... Does anyone make the fasteners that fit? I'd pay more than the 17 bucks per set if they just worked. Thanks in advance, GB

I'd like to know aswell, my 42 has got all the bars, not very good ones, some need the bottom 2-3" repaired, but a couple were held on with clips, most by various size bolts/screws/things and stuff.
Made me wounder if the original clips wernt very good at holding them on, seeing lots of 42-47 trucks with bars missing.
My life would be easyer with better bars and clips that work.
You got any spare bars GB?
Martin.

Thanks, how wide are they? 1/2"? They sure look like they will work. I find the stud needs to be offset and about 1/2" from the one end. This would leave a long tail facing up or down, which is good. I'll look around on the web this morning. Only extra bars I have are mangled. I have been fixing bars by slotting the sides where they are kinked with a cutoff wheel , bending them to a fair curve, vice gripping a quarter to the back side of the cut and welding. The quarter never sticks and just falls out.
