'46 Horn Ring:

Looking at this picture, can anyone tell me if the three screws that hold the "locking ring" to the horn ring have to be insulated? I have three different screws that all have a plastic washer under the heads. I also have one plastic collar that seems like it would surround the screw as if to insulate it from the steel locking ring. None of this is stock and I'm probably going to have to rig something up but, I don't know what I need.

Thanks,

Dale

Yes the screws are insulated from the metal base piece, otherwise the horn will sound continuously. They have a special non-conductive, stepped spacer that fits under each screw

Thanks for the information, you answered my question. That is an interesting picture. It would seem that the wire going through the hole marked "4" would be better off running down through the spring. Mine does not have that hole so, I would guess, that by '46 they had done away with it.

On my 46-48 horn ring that wire doesn't go across and through the other side like the picture, it goes from the screw then out the big middle hole through the spring center and down the steering shaft.
