I have taken the V8 plunge

In a big way.

I have inquired over the last year or so about a variety of V8 Fords, a shoebox, a 39 and a 50 Merc. I never quite pulled the trigger and, in fact, bought another Model A when my plan was to get one V8 to keep my A Town Sedan company.

A few weeks ago I heard about an original, unrestored 1929 and a 1945 truck for sale near me. When I got there, it was an unrestored 39 4 door sedan and a restored 45 truck. Long story short, I liked both of them and made an offer on the two. Some back and forth and a lot of soul searching and I am the proud owner of 2 flattie V8s! I must have lost my mind. Anyway, below are a some shots of my new acquisitions.

The 39 is mostly original paint and has an original interior.

There is a beauty in the homeliness of the jail bar Ford trucks. This looks like a very nice one, albeit with some extra chrome, especially given the year. The title says 45, and there is some further documentation about this. I will need to do some more research.

Forget all that antique stuff. It will be just a bunch of headaches.
Buy a new Bimmer and enjoy motoring.

I wouldn't trade any of my early Ford Flathead V-8's for a Bimmer or a Beemer :D

Very nice additions to the fold - I especially like the truck . . . don't know why, just do!

To me, with all the chrome the truck looks like a 42 . Of course someone may have replaced the painted trim with chrome. The tag on the inside of the glove box door, if it is still there, will give you the model #. If it begins with 2 it's a 1942 if it begins with 5 it's a 1945. The second # is the engine code. In either case it's great looking truck. Hope you drive and enjoy both of them immensely.

D. Jones.
The only shiny bits that were on the 42 and not after we're, stainless head light and parking light rims and a seperate shiny Ford script on the hood sides, where the later ones had the Ford script pressed into the hood sides. All that other chrome is aftermarket. Edit, 42 had shiny outside door handles, these were painted on later ones, bit don't know when that changed.
Mhspreacher,
I really like both of them, a lot. I gota say though, if you described the colour scheme on the pickup, I'd have though it would look odd and wouldn't like it. I would've been very very wrong in that assumption! It's damn nice, really like it.
Thanks for the pics.
Martin.

Enjoy them! Drive em often. There's enough old Fords gathering dust in garages and museums.
