36' model 51 brake 1 Attachment(s)
I'm down to this on the brakes. When I take off the 5 bolt to remove this cover, will I have to detach the parking brake mechanism pictured on the right of the axle?

Re: 36' 1.5 ton oil residue in brakes 1 Attachment(s)
I've got down to the brakes, everything seems to be working, as well as the brake shoes appear to have a lot of life left. I noticed there's some oil residue on the brake components, (but not on the shoes). Think this is normal, or maybe some oil Getting around a seal somewhere? Bret.

Re: 36' model 51 brake I have a '34 pickup as well as a 1 1/2 ton dump truck and had "leakage" that was not on the brake shoes as well. I replaced # BB 1175-C Retainer (rear wheel grease retainer) and that did the trick.

Found the seal at macs, they are referring to it as a "2ton seal" I'm assuming they meant 1 1/2? Here's a pic of mine.

Re: 36' model 51 brake I would suggest checking with Joblet (if their still answering the phone!) or VanPelt, etc to find what you need.

Re: 36' model 51 brake Bret:
I got mine from Joblot a number of years ago but if you use that part number, you should be fine and I think Macs has it. That part was used from 1934 to 42 or '47 for the 1 1/2 ton trucks. The "green bible" will help you out- Parts catalog. Henry |

Re: 36' model 51 brake You will want to place your order with Joblot as soon as possible since they are winding down their operation. They are only selling parts in stock and are not able to re supply.

Re: 36' model 51 brake Glad to hear they had the parts, they are (soon to be were) one of the better suppliers for hard to find parts.
