Any Model A production guru's out there??? Here is the thing...Many years ago, Mr. Leslie Henry reported that there were 105 body style 55-B (Standard and Deluxe Tudor Sedans) that were made in 1932. Then in an article by Mary Moline, she reported that 219 Tudors were produced in 1932. All taken from the Ford Motor Companies Annual Production Reports.
Unless there is more to this, the only "production reports" that I have are the Assembly Record Types for 1928-1931 PLUS the 1932 reports. On the 1932 reports there is only one (1) Tudor (Standard and Deluxe) listed for USA production but quite a few more, more than Henry and Moline reported, for foreign and Canada production. So my question is to you Model A production guru's is this...just where do the 105/219 numbers come from? There must be more to the story here but heck if I know and neither does the Ford Archives! Thanks. Pluck |
Re: Any Model A production guru's out there??? Rick Black has lots of Deluxe Tudor knowledge, he may know....

Re: Any Model A production guru's out there??? The figure I have is 105 Tudors in 1932, but it does not record if US or Overseas/Canada. No Deluxe Tudors recorded in 1932.
1932 is Jan 1st - 30th April. These are ''condensed table prepared by Leslie Henry from data of Ford Motor Co.- Production Dept. Annual Reports.'' Believe it or not, this appeared in the often denigrated ''Fab, Model A Ford '' published by Floyd Clymer. BTW,there were no Deluxe Tudors assembled at Manchester England in '31 '32. This from info from a source in Britain. -from ''Not a Guru''. |

Re: Any Model A production guru's out there??? From the data I see, the 55-B was about 36% of the total production in 1930 and 1931. Why wouldn't we expect about the same ratio for the last three months production in 1932? There were 18,553 engines produced in 1932, but I have no idea how many total Model A cars. It sounds like this number is lower than what we might expect????

This is the information I have also. However, neither I nor the Ford Archives knows just where and how Mr. Henry at 105 Tudors and Ms. Mary Moline at 219 Tudors in 1932, know just where they got that information. All I have and all the Ford Archives has are the 1932 Assembly Record Types showing all assembly plants and their production of each Model A/AA Ford assembled during the post production year of 1932. Unless someone is sitting on that information, for which they most likey are, those like...well, I won't say here but you know who you are, we will never know. Pluck |

Re: Any Model A production guru's out there??? Forever 4,
Did you see my question? I was sure the The British Model A's were built in Manchester, Dagenham wasn't finished till after the Model A? First things out of Dagenham were Model B's and Model Y's? Ain't this so? I've nothing to back it up, just digging into the memory bank. Thanks, Martin. |

Manchester began May 28, 1928 (Ford News: July 2, 1928, Vol. 8, #16: Indicated May 28, 1928) and Dagenham began October 1931 or there abouts (Also from Ford News). Dagenham replaced Manchester and it looks like all of the Model AF/AAF Ford production for Manchester in 1931 was included in on the Dagenham production numbers according to the 1931 Assembly Record Types. The England plants also used the USA engine numbers but those numbers were “omitted” from the USA production and not used on the USA produced engines, or Model A/AA's as that goes, but sent to England and used in their production with the prefix of “AF” or “AAF”.
