working on a 1939 ford coupe deluxe....hooked up the vacuum lines and the wiper motor will only move the wipers to the left and then stopped. hooked up another wiper motor and it did the same thing. any suggestions?
is there suppose to be a vacuum canister installed with this set up. Wife said she will no get into a car where the wipers don"t work...need help!!!!

Some might consider that a reason not to fix them:D

Try one or both vacuum motors out of the car without the load of the wipers and see what happens. They both may need cleaning and lubrication to work right, particularly the valve that switches the vacuum at the end of each stroke to the other side for the other direction.

I always keep my windshield adequately treated with Rain-X even if the wipers work most of the time for those times when they don't (like most acceleration and any hill climbing). Works great.
