1936 Fan dimensions needed! Reinstalling a metal 4 blade fan on a 1936 car, (had a 6V electric fan, pull type ) the fan I came up with when installed on the front of generator is to close to the radiator hoses. ( like a gap of only a 1/8" ) Need to know what is the correct length of hup/spool portion of the fan. I looked at search section of early V8 forum but did not come up with an answer, lot of info but not exact, thanks Bruce

Re: 1936 Fan dimensions needed! The 35-36 book says the fan should be 15 1/2" dia, 1 3/4" deep.

Re: 1936 Fan dimensions needed! Thank you, will check mine in morning, seems like between the two hub flanges that I have only about 3/4 to 1 ", will advise, Bruce

Re: 1936 Fan dimensions needed! my 36 is close like that

Re: 1936 Fan dimensions needed! I found a 2" fan hub, that is measuring from back of hub ( generator end ) to back of nearest fan blade. The 2" is to long, the one I have measures 1 1/8" ( to close ). Need to know where the 1 3/4" measurement is taken from, Duece_Roadster, any idea. I believe if 2" is to long that the 1 3/4" would be correct, need to find one, any info or location would like to know, thanks Bruce

Re: 1936 Fan dimensions needed! The V8 Club restoration book only has those dimensions and not how they were measured. I would expect it would be from the mounting flange out to the farthest point. I don't have a 35 or 36 (only 32,33,40) so have no direct experience. Hopefully 36 owners on this forum will chime in.

Re: 1936 Fan dimensions needed! This photo is of a 36 fan on the genorator. I am not sure we're to measure from but this should be right

Re: 1936 Fan dimensions needed! jacob smith, that is what I have now, to close for comfort, less than a 1/8" at closest point on upper point of radiator hose. Need fan that measures 1 3/4" duece Roadster says is in book. thanks for the photos, same way I measured, Bruce

Re: 1936 Fan dimensions needed! 33-36 is the same fan. The 37-39 has a 7/8" longer hub

Re: 1936 Fan dimensions needed! So Don, since you are co author of the 35-36 book, is that a misprint on page 103?

Deuce. The 1 3/4" dimension referenced in The 35/36 Book was an overall depth dimension from the base of the fan hub to the center fan rivet.

Re: 1936 Fan dimensions needed! I think you have the correct fan Bruce, you might have been measuring from wrong place.give it a try!!!!!
|
Re: 1936 Fan dimensions needed! Be sure your fan belt is not too long. With too long of a belt it can cause the clearance to be awfully close with the hoses.
|
Re: 1936 Fan dimensions needed! Thanks for clearing that up Don, I think your diagram in post 16 is what Bruce wanted to know.
