BEWARE Fordbarn hustler on the loose

i didnt know where to post this but here we go...

I have an ad in the wanted section about a 32-34 11-39 / 3:54 rear end ratio.
Yesterday i got a response that almost fooled me to pay $650.00 for well.. Probably nothing. After a few emails back and forth things got weirder and weirder and i had to do some background check.

I googled "11-39 3:54 32-34 gears" and the SAME text was in Randy Pimplers old eBay auction back in 2013, exactly the same numbers was etched in on the ring gear too. The dude refused to send any photos of the pieces until i said the deal were off until i got some pics.
Another weird thing was that i asked for his Fordbarn nickname and his profile was made the same day (jjjohnson768) zero posts etc.

Here you have the entire conversation (read from bortom and up)

Ok, this feels a bit weird now. It would fel alot better if you took some recent detailed photos and sended to me. With the date of the ring gear and all showing.

If you cant im afraid im not interested in the deal.

Thanks

Viktor, Who is Randy? I do not Know what you are talking about, But if you feel you are not comfortable with the deal it fine with me but i am a honest man and that is why i sent my ID for you to confirm and to know who you are dealing with.

OK, can you explane why the text you sent me are the exact text that Randy pimpler had in his sales ad and his matched ring and pinion set is also stamped 4-34 and also etched "2349".
This feels weird you know.

Re: BEWARE Fordbarn hustler on the loose

As you can see the ratio in the pic he sent is not an early V8 ratio. Probably just a pic from Google and then he added the date at the bottom right in paint or whatever.

Anybody else got some emails from mr Jeffrey Johnson aka jjjohnson768 ??

Re: BEWARE Fordbarn hustler on the loose

The grammatical errors are usually the first tip-off for scammers. Then the reluctance to explain the origination of the parts and provide good images. Then the insistence on payment types like money gram and Western Union.
Thanks for tipping us off to this person.

Re: BEWARE Fordbarn hustler on the loose

In the last few weeks , I had a guy contact me, using what appeared to be the identical verbiage, that I posted on "The Early V-8 Club of America" site , in the wanted parts section.......I asked for a '34 Tudor garnish molding; what he sent was a photo for a 3 window coupe garnish molding ......That's when I got suspicious....he was searching on line, using "'34 garnish molding "........When I questioned the coupe molding, he sent some of a Tudor... I did a online search, and found the same photos, from other peoples adds, he sent me in his e-mail...........also, the V-8 club allows ANYONE into their site ( he wasn't a registered member )BEWARE................

Too many flags for me, probably would have dumped the idea at the first Umlaut.

WRA, I know your right, and knew it at the time, when I saw the coupe molding......but I try to follow any and all possible leads to the fullest extent............and still looking.........

Same just happened to me with this jjj guy. Said he had the part I wanted and needed
my email and then said he just sold it to a friend. Also showed he just joined the same day he emailed me.

Also just got an email from the same guy, totally a scam artist. He replies to a wanted section, said he had a 39 truck for sale. He sent me a link to a 49 ford truck that is obviously not his. Watch out for this guy.

at the first mention of payment by money gram all comunication with this jerk would have ended, also he removed the pic

If the guy is a member shouldn't the person who blocks folks take care of him?

Re: BEWARE Fordbarn hustler on the loose

Should put their names on the front page of the classifieds if we don't remove them some other way. What a drag.

Yeah Ryan should be made aware.

It would be great if a list of scammers was developed. Than we could ck the list before buying or selling. I have had scammers contact me.

ford38v8 10-04-2015 06:45 PM

Re: BEWARE Fordbarn hustler on the loose

Ryan can't put up such a list, nor can he allow one to develop, as then he would be the responsible party vulnerable to libel suits should some jerk decide to sue. The present system of posting scammers in the Forum section like this one allows Ryan the deniability he needs. If everyone who reads the ads also reads the Forum, they'll be aware of these guys and better prepared to deal with them.

He just told me he had a 4-2 Y-Block Intake.

If I have any questions I just look in the archives for the persons name and see if there are any complaints. If they pass that test I then check their previous posts to see if they are here for a hobby or something else.
