31 rear inner fender replace

Howdy guys (&gals?) of the brain trust,:o
Haven't posted in quite awhile as life has run interference with toy projects. So I have decided to get back at it albeit very part time. My current project is replacing the rear inner fenders on my 31 rdstr as the previous so called restorer hacked in the current ones. Am just about to start welding and have just two questions at this point with attached photos.
1. I don't think the two little holes on the rear lower body strip wrap around are supposed to be there. Yes/No? (see photo)
2. What is a source for the two/four rivets that go to the vertical brace inside the car? The originals that I removed had a very large flat head unlike the truss, pan or round heads on all the other body rivets.

Thanks Gary

OK I found some acceptable rivets at my local independent hardware store. Go figure! 1/4 x 5/8 truss head that I will masage for length and head shape. Found some flat head @ Flat River. These will work.
Still wondering about the two mystery holes. Any wisdom?

Gary, are the 2 holes possibly for the fender brace???

The two "mystery holes" are for rivets only. The sheetmetal goes between the outer bracket and the subframe. Here's a picture I saved from somewhere when I was getting ready to work on my roadster.

Thanks Randy! Rivets it is. Just happen to have those. It appears the rivet heads are outboard?
So when the bumper brackets or whatever goes in the two front holes are tightened they squeeze the inner panel into and make contact with the "indent" of the subframe rail? I was almost thinking something got sandwiched in between. Otherwise, the inner panel gets a little distorted as it is drawn in to the indent in the subframe.

Of course my car as delivered was all welded in that area. So I had/have no real reference.

So I am wondering about the two fender bracket holes in the rear inner fender panel. I have replaced the inner panel and have noticed that the subframe has an indent as shown in Randy's post. The new panel is flat and when the bracket is bolted in and tightened it will distort the inner panel to conform to the indent. Is this correct or should there be something that installs between the panel and subframe?

Any of the replacement panels I've seen need to be "worked" into the shape of the recess in the subrail in this area. Any I've seen only have the front recess and you still see some that don't even have that - just the way it is with repro parts.
