Patent plate

Can someone fill me in on the type of fasteners used to hold the patent plate to the firewall on my '31 roadster?

Thanks.

John

Re: Patent plate

most of the part houses are now selling a nut and bolt that look like a rivet. Here's one

Originally, these were a rivet - - steel if memory serves

I have bought these from Snyder's before, they are called a Drive Rivet.

Use these drive in rivets (drivets).. They just tap in as long as your holes were not modified

Thanks, I'll check Ace first. My firewall is repro, so there are no holes (yet).

John, I have some extra drive rivets that you can have. You can drill to fit.

J Witty,
It's an interesting thing, to research the patents on the plate. One is for an overhead valve set up, which apparently was NEVER produced. "MAYBE" some of the design was used on the ARDUN OHV conversion for Flathead V-8's, in 1939??? Arkus Duntov was a GENIUS!!

Got to see the man once at the Sebring 12 Hours, I think he was there with a couple of the Corvette show cars. Didn't meet him though, I regret to say, he was certainly a mover for GM.

In the 60s the race management was just trying to make a buck and it was easy to get a pit pass.
