No oil pressure

Started 30 pickup after a few months and noticed oil pressure gauge at zero, was running okay but I turned it off. Problem?

Re: No oil pressure

only really thick cold oil would register on my oil pressure gauge when I first got my car-- fixed the problem by removing it --:)

What did it read before?

If I remove the gauge how do you know if there is oil pressure? or am I worrying for no reason, seemed to run normal.

to be honest, I never paid much attention to the gauge before I happened to notice this time

Re: No oil pressure

Check your dipstick first, then undo the gauge and see if oil gushes out when you crank it over. If not drop the pan

Re: No oil pressure

In the day, the accessory gauges were usually only 0-10 psi. A stock model A may have 8-10 psi cold and 4-5 psi hot, while running along at 40-45 mph and almost 0 at idle.

A lot of gauges installed later on were 0-30 or 0-60 psi. These gauges may show little or no reading at all.

My opinion.

Air in the gauge line from sitting to long bleed it

Re: No oil pressure

Loosen the lower oil pipe bolt and start it. If oil comes out you have oil pressure

Re: No oil pressure

What Mitch said is what you should do. You may need to pry the oil return pipe away from the block a fraction of an inch to allow some oil out. I usually put a small matchstick between the pipe and the block to maintain a gap. If you have no oil...shut it down quickly. It may take a few seconds after starting for oil to fill the valve chamber and find its way down the tube.
Good Day!

Actually I had it take longer for the oil to work its way down...
Thanks for adding to move the pipe back a little

Re: No oil pressure

if this is a dipper motor , a few #s when cold , but only 1-3# warm . it is a free flow system with only minimum pressure .
