stromberg 97 - non-start when cold

I have been running a Stromberg 97 on my 4-cylinder '31 Model A for about three years now, and it has always run fine and stated as it should.
Now however, while still running fine, it refuses to start when the engine / carb. is cold. Not being mechanically inclined (the word 'dunce' comes to mind), and without a clue as to what the problem is, I now have to use a shot of 'Carb. Starter' to shoot down the open throat of the carb. to get it to fire up. Once it starts, it runs smooth, and while the engine / carb. is warm it starts right up without any 'Carb. Starter'.
So what to you carb. guys suspect may be my problem ?

My first thought would be to see if the bowl of the carburetor has leaked the fuel out over time. If so, correct that problem first. Next, ensure the choke butterfly is closing all the way. If not, correct that problem. A carburetor cold-start issue is always attributed to a lean mixture.

Is the accelerator pump working?
