windshield removal

How do I remove the windshield in my deluxe coupe? Looks to me that if I remove the wiper motor and remove the swing arms from inside, I can swing the windshield far enough forward to expose all of the screws that hold the hinge in place. May have to also remove the vacuum tubing. Is that it? How is the best way to support it once the screws are removed?

There is no need to take out all of the hinge screws to get the windshield off.

After removing the wiper vacuum hose and swing arms, open the windshield and pull it out from the side of the car. It should slide out of its hinge. If not, spray the hinge with WD-40 and cycle open and closed several times.

After windshield is out, it is much easier to get at the hinge screws up in the header.

You might need to open the pinch on the end of the hinge if you try to slide it off.

Sliding it out won't be possible with the visor in place, will it? On my 31 coupe it appears to slide it out the visor would have to be removed.

I would agree and I've only removed a couple, but have done them by removing the screws from the hinge. A slant windshield without the visor maybe could slide out the side.

I find it easier to remove the hinge screws.. Unhook the swing arms this will allow the w shield to move farther out for screw access. Use 2 people when doing the removal

Thanks all. I got ahead of myself. I did the match test and got a double reflection on all the glass remaining in the car. Not so with the roadster, so I'm guessing the match test works. The glass I had already removed was single thickness, smaller than the 1/4 inch plate original.
