VIN search

There have been some posts with questions about this. I found a website that will check all state dmv's for VIN history.
You can check for free to see if they have information on the number and get a report for 6.99. I tried my model A Tudor serial # and it came up. I have no interest in the company.

Re: VIN search

Interesting. I wonder how far back the history report goes?

Re: VIN search

The site tells me that it does not recognize the "vin" (serial number) on my '59 Corvette because it doesn't have the number of digits (17 I believe it said) in current-day VINs. Seemingly, not a whole lot of good to us old car folks with original serial numbers. DD

I think it says that when they have no data on the number. It recognized my original model A number which is only 7 digits long. It is just another tool that probably in not perfect.

I would think with today's alleged privacy laws that the info you get (if any) would be very limited.

I don't think most folks here would find it particularly useful.

The instaVIN report accesses official state DMV Title data, along with junk, salvage and insurance total loss information through the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS). The available title information goes back 5-10 years depending on the state.
