Re: Horrible Model A crash in Temple City CA Hi Joe,
No matter the cause, appears every time we hear that something tragic happened in a Model A, it hits home in that we realize that we have lost loved ones who share in our hobby. Even though so very sad, much thanks for the reminder to help us remember to realize that anything can happen, in any car on a highway. |

Re: Horrible Model A crash in Temple City CA That is awful. There is no good way to pass out of this world and that is surely one of the worst.
Nine gallons of gas in your lap is never a good thing. Pray for those who they left behind. |
Re: Horrible Model A crash in Temple City CA Whatever the cause was, we'll probably never know.
I've noticed that Barners are ALWAYS DILLIGENT in advising folks how to assemble stuff in a SAFE MANNER. Bill W. |

Yeah, saw that on the news last evening....shocking :( ! Looks like a one car incident, so hard to speculate what the cause was. I've never ever seen a Model A gas tank spill/split open from wreck. That must have impacted without any braking whatsoever. Good thoughts to their family...... |
Re: Horrible Model A crash in Temple City CA Some thoughts,
Broken plastic fuel filter, but the flames seemed bigger then that. The engine was pushed back so I wonder if it tore the fuel tank? Then I thought maybe a full tank and it got crunched pushing fuel out the top. Of if there was a gas can inside the car. One also has to wonder if seat belts might have kept people in their seats and conscious so they might have had a better chance to escape. Maybe we will hear from someone in the know. |
Re: Horrible Model A crash in Temple City CA We need to lift up their families in prayer., a tragic loss......
A reminder for us all to go over emergency procedures with our passengers. The first conscious effort must be to shut the fuel off. |

Re: Horrible Model A crash in Temple City CA a lot of cars had the gas tank in places they shouldn't have been ,the model a, fuel tank in front and above your feet with it in the cab, v/w also fuel tank in front and above your feet, Renault with the gas tank in the back with the engine, and the jaquar with the tank in the trunk with an electric fuel pump there run by points, a spark every time the points opened, there are others but those are the ones that I have worked on and stick in my memory

Re: Horrible Model A crash in Temple City CA Maybe a steering ball welded on or a welded up shortened steering arm.

http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2015/...n-temple-city/ I guess the only light that can be shed on this tragedy is that maybe they died doing what they liked best. |
Re: Horrible Model A crash in Temple City CA Frank & Christina Izbinski Were Members of the Santa Anita A's of Arcadia, California. They lived in the neighboring city of Temple City where the accident occurred. Their Model A was a 1931 Tudor.

Re: Horrible Model A crash in Temple City CA I can't recall ever seeing or hearing of a Model A accident causing a fire as bad as this. Does anyone else?
Damage to the car, what could be seen, doesn't suggest to me that the gas tank was crushed. Would really like to know more about the dynamics of this terrible tragedy for those of us who drive these cars. |
