What are syptoms of bad power valve in carb?
 

I have a 59A motor with 94 Model Carb. Engine developed miss in high rpm range-pulling in 2nd and 3rd gear. Checked out all suspected ignition related components-swapped coil/plugs/condenser-fairly new points gapped correctly. Starts up and runs good from idle to mid range. Wondering if a blown out power valve can appear at higher revolutions? Thanks in advance

One of them is a severe stumble when you accelerate. The "miss" does not continue such as in your case

I agree with Joe. Another symptom of a bad power valve is leak down of fuel into the intake manifold resulting in hard starting and rich mixture producing sooty spark plugs. I suggest you check fuel delivery to the carb, which is different than fuel pressure. The "new" gas is causing interior rust in the line from the tank to the firewall. You can rig a temporary fuel source to confirm the diagnosis. I believe your change of ignition parts likely rules that out of the cause, in favor of fuel starvation.

What type of air cleaner are you using? Is it maybe restricting air flow?

constant fuel running into engine, causing flooding, missing and hard starting

had one leaking on my 41 zephyr v-12 started hard hot replaced it fixed it
