32 Cabriolet B Model

How difficult is it to rebuild a mechanical fuel pump? Trying to get the b model running after it's sat for 8 years, so am going to methodically go through and rebuild the fuel pump, carb, clean all the fuel lines, etc.

Thanks

EASY to do Diaphram is a common one to find. Its a AC pump. 1 bolt to unbolt from push rod. JobLot in Queens N.Y. or Gould has rebuilt kits. Or call Ken which is you best bet.

Do you have any pictures of the Cabriolet posted anywhere? Beautiful design, I envy you!

Make sure the diaphram can stand up to 10% ethanol.

My 80's cars were going through fuel pumps every few months due to that crap gas.

Only problem I've had is mating parts may need to be sanded flat--use fine paper on a flat surface.

I would love to see the car as well! Any idea how vastly different the body is between the 1931 Slant Window Cabriolet and the 1932 cabriolet besides the fuel tank in the rear and the dash/cowl vent? I know the windsheld frame would also be different and no landau irons.

I would love to see a 31 and a 32 next to each other.

Thanks, and thanks for the feedback. New here and I realized I should have posted under the 32 V8 thread, but this is the b model. Trying to upload pictures now. The car has been stored for the past 13 years, last run about 4 years ago, so I'm just starting to bring it back after getting it a few weeks ago. It was my granddad's, dad's, now passed down again.

You can't get rid of that car now that it's in the 3rd generation. That is sooo cool.

Greyhound,

Real nice car! Keeps nice company as well. I have four pumps I'm rebuilding for my B Woody. I got three in a good deal on e_ay. I wanted extras because they are expensive and not always for sale. I've gotten replacement parts from KenCT and Renner's Corner.

Keep V-8ing and 4-banging!

I have been lucky to have both and the 32 is all steel were the 31 is a wood subrai & lpost and much more carrige built. The top on a 32 is alot easier to pull up and down as well. I can toss up the top at a traffic light on my 32 but the 31 is alot more fragile with the post on the door /tops.

Geat looking Cabriolet and your very lucky to get to enjoy a great body style. We have enjoyed ours for many many years and were lucky to find another.
I have a few extra pumps that are nice but most likely need a rebuild 50 bucks plus the ride.

Re: 32 Cabriolet B Model

:rolleyes:Charlie [body shop] restored a V8 Cabriolet and was one if not the nicest one out there. There are 2 that i know of out in Long Island,, 2 in Conn. And 1 not far from me. Second Generation. Story -A teacher in Silver Lake ,Harrison N.Y. bought the car new .A student bought the car in early 50's from the teacher.- Charlie restored that car in Mid 80's [a good solid complete car] for the owner[student] . Owner died 5 years ago and we thought the car was lost. Son now in his mid 40's drove upto the shop and ask if Charlie has time to touch up some spots. Never met the son before but glad he has interest in the car.:D tried to buy it...:):(

Re: 32 Cabriolet B Model

So Charlie restored TWO '32 Cabriolets or is the one the 40 year old has now Charlies old one? I'm confused. There is another Cabriolet in need of restoration in Connecticut that I don't think you know about.

Re: 32 Cabriolet B Model

The one Charlie owned is now in a collector's hands [in a salt mine] with 2000 other cars mostly Ford. The other car he did is in Armonk N.Y. . There are 3 "T's" and a 1936 Ford Phaeton there too. Last i heard. Bob , there's the one that showed up at Ridgefield meet and one in Avon Conn. Owner died and wife put a Model "A' open car forsale in the papers and it turned out to be a 1932 Cab.

Re: 32 Cabriolet B Model

What paper? I've always wanted a 1932 Model A.

Re: 32 Cabriolet B Model

I guess something like the pennysaver paper ? It was in Avon Conn. Car was restored back sometime in early 70's. Charlie and i just shook our heads. And it was a V8
