6V third brake light

What types of lights are you all using for a third brake light in 6 VDC? I see all sorts of option in 12 VDC LED but nothing with a regular old 6 VDC bulb. Ideally, I'd like something that goes in/around the tag mount area rather than inside the car on the package shelf or on the bumper.
Thanks

I guess anything helps, but the idea of a third brake light is to raise the height to near eye level. Thus the rear window locations.

Re: 6V third brake light

I put a 6 volt LED light bar on a bracket I made just above the license plate and tied into the upper bolts for the plate. It was easy to wire and mount and adds additional warning in addition to my standard '39 tailights. I've had it for about five years and I think it was about $60 or so.

Well worth the effort, in my opinion.

Dick.

Back in the 30's there was a neon stop light that you put in the rear window. Guess putting a stop light up there has been around a lot longer then you would think.

I installed a 6V version of the "Brakelighter" in my '35 fordor sedan, purchased from these folks at the Hershey Show. Was able to run wires and mount in rear window w/o the need to make any modifications to the car. Owning a standard model car, with only one taillight, I feel much safer now when braking at night. Just bought another for one of my other cars.

And if I may add, John Bieback provides outstanding customer service.

I agree. My rear 12V pickup lights are plenty bright but other drivers were not seeing them because they are mounted so low. I made up a pair of lights (using cheap leds) that mounted in the rear of the bed rolls and right away I had people telling me how noticeable they were. Thats a good thing.

Installed the Brakelighter in the rear window on my 36 Sedan, with excellent result. As stated previously, no major modification required. This is an excellent safety upgrade as people are now trained to look for that light in the back window. Also tied into my turn signal based upon the easy to follow directions provided with the kit.

I also use the Brakelighter from J&L Enterprises on my '32 Standard Cpe. Easy to install. I super glued two (2) round magnets to the plastic housing and the light bar sticks to the rear window frame nicely. I used the suction cups provided with the light kit for a while, but I was constantly rolling my rear window up and down and had to remove the bar each time. Now the window rolls up and down without having to remove the light bar.

I have several BATTERY operated LED stop lights that mount on the license plate.
They have an inertia switch that operates them. I had them for years and they
work good. I think I may have replaced the battery in one of them. G.M.

Good idea Pat! I was wondering how to mount it with a roll down window.

I have not seen these or heard of them. Do you have a model/part number? Photo? Cool idea.
