Here's a few shots you might enjoy some not that clear ,you see the 35 in the river .Included are GMCS ,I worked in the forestry in the 60s and the GMCs were used extensity ,most were repowered with war surplus Mercury motors when the 6s wore out ,I will add to this with clearer shots later .Ted

Ted, I love Bill Hohepa's Show,''Talking Trucks'' when the old timers say if a trucks rated to carry 4 Ton's they would put on 8 ton's etc!! The pictures tell the story. Not so regulated back then

Ted we used to sneak into Gillies yard opposite the ford factory in seaview, they had hundreds of GMC there from the war,2x4, 4x4,and 6x6, and
row upon row of brand new engines from fan to clutch,
My elder brother overhauled the paste mixers at a factory that made all the sealant for the motor factorys in the mid seventies, the mixers were made from GMC gearboxes and diffs,we got all the new parts from gillies.
They told us at Gillies that they got 1000.s of gals go fuel from the trucks and a good supply of grenades and ammo from behind the seats .

Interesting stuff Lawri .When in the forest to watch a Flathead powered GMC in reverse get up on a stump with all 10 wheels churning and the Flathead screaming was something to behold ,Ted

I don't get it? In the 50's & 60's ,GM 6 cylinder engines were everywhere! Why would you use a Ford V8 in a GMC Deuce & half? The bigger question, howed you all do it?

Re: Fords in service in NZ

Manuel this is a two set history of trucking here ,you could buy from the author $100 .
S,O the repower was done because of low cost of the v8 and availability ,not sure how it was done ,a adapter plate through the GMC trans box I guess .
