Running 200 cid 6 Cyl,, Whats it worth??

We have a running Ford 200 ci 6 cyl out of a OMNI swather (a piece of farm equipment for you city folks). Curious as to its value. Not a ton of hours on it as it was replaced sometime in the machines past. We quit farming altogether 8 years ago and it has only been used afew times since. I am not sure what changes besides maybe a carb changed Ford used for their industrial units like this. Any opinions or approximations are appriciated. Scrapping the swather, but will be selling the engine sometime this fall. Thanks Rod

its worth $150 as an exchange on a rebuilt motor, $250 as an engine replacement for some ones car, used engines aren't worth a whole lot, when you buy used engines you are at the mercy of the person selling it, unless you can hear it run for 5 or 10 mnutes its a crap shoot

Would be glad to let them hear it run for several hours if need be to seal a deal before we pull the engine. Not planning on salvaging til mid Sept when things are alittle cooler. Rod

I had a running 170 that I was trying to sell. Advertised everywhere. No takers. Scrapped it.

Thats a shame, all I can see that is wrong with this one is it has green paint on it. If it don't sell, will likely plug up all the holes the best we can and put it in the corner of the storage shed next to the 6 cyl jeep engine that has 27,000 miles on it and hope at some point someone needs it. Would rather have the storage space for model A parts. Rod

Can you post a short video of the engine running from start up, accelerating the engine, closeups of all sides, top and bottom. That might help in getting rid of it. 200's are better than 170's and much better than the 144's, but the value of them is very low, especially used and the fact that your 200 was/is used in a different application than cars and trucks of the 60's.

No clue how to post videos or anything other than this phone to try to take a video. Never used the feature as there is no need to. No Youtube aspirations here and I stay as far away as I can to Facebook and other intrusive sites. Rod

the later 200s had a different bell and dont really fit the early cars.

OK, might not be desirable, but hey, its a six, free! I probably shouldnt be replying this, since over at the other margin of the lake its a whole dif reality that I'm really not into. I know that inline sixes are continuously ditched and that they are of little value aside the 300. But, besides the fact that I probably would have already bought one or two 223s for parts if it werent for shipment, I still find a bit strange that somebody is offering a whole engine and nobody wants it.
Its just dif from over here.

I had a 223 in my 62 Unibody. Very durable and reliable engine. Drove it to highschool and off and on for several years after. Regret selling that truck. Rod

you may want to try to post it on a Mustang site as they ran those in 65.66,67 Mustangs.

Can you post pics of the engine on here? I wouldn't mind coming to get it but it's 4 1/2 hours one way.
Thanks,

The 200 is a completely different engine from the 223/300 I6. The intake is cast with the head so there's not much you can do with carbs. It's a good engine otherwise. The Aussies continued making the engine after it was discontinued in the US. Their newer versions had an OHC head and could be hopped up very nicely.

Will do the best I can. It is at the farm 25 miles from my house and I blew the clutch up in my pickup. Been driving my wifes car to work. So might be another week or so as cash is a little tight for parts this week. Rod
